Summary:Western ideologies are ideas, concepts and theories that originate from the West. It is very important to understand the nature and the philosophical premises (assumptions or presuppositions) of Western ideologies. Ideology is a set of beliefs or principles, that a group of people subscribes to, or that which a political system or party, or an organization , or a way of life is based. It can also be thought of as any comprehensive belief system, ways of thinking, and classifications that specify the bases of political, economic and social actions. It is “a conceptual scheme with a practical application” . Ideology is a wide and cohesive set of principles, notions, and symbols or images through which a person makes sense of the world and understand his or her position within it . Ideology is very much related to philosophy and worldview. Whilst ideology refers to its practical utility, philosophy or worldview is characterised by its all-encompassing comprehensiveness
