And two elements seem to be necessary when we look at the theme of this event. One is governance, and the second is civilization. The first one, I guess, is more straightforward and practical. Hence, the second is relatively abstract. Based on this, I organized my speech into two parts—the first deals with abstract issues, and the second touches on some practical issues. Before these two issues, let me remind something very fundamental matter. I think it is essential to look at and evaluate the current reality briefly. Undoubtedly, this is a deteriorating peace and harmony between humans and humans, humans and nature, and human and supernatural being. This is far beyond the concept of “clash of civilizations. The current and present threat appears not only in the form of one group’s horrendous militarism and violence but also the same and similar horrendous militarism and violence exists with its unseen subjects (actors) and unseen objects. As such, for some people, this is precisely not only a challenging time but also more than that it is precisely an apocalyptic situation that causes global alienation, chaos, and distress. In this context, we, as believers of Islam from diverse nations and geographies, are at a crossroads to help ourselves, our brothers and sisters in Islam, and the whole of humanity in a general sense.
