According to Islamic law, Muslims are required to be of sound mind at all times. Therefore, a drug user isconsidered to be someone who is not living in accordance with the prescribed ways of Islam. Drug addiction is a chronic disease with harmful consequences, but the compulsive and difficult-to-control nature of drugs causes an addict to use drugs constantly. Due to the seriousness of the disease, this study aims to determine the position of drug addiction in Islamic law. In order to achieve this, a qualitative study was conducted in which data was collected through library research. Further analysis is conducted from different perspectives to examine the compatibility of Islamic laws with the Maldivian rehabilitation system.
