Description
Summary:This research seeks to investigate the role of Muslim identity in managing cultural diversity among the CIS countries based on the Qur’anic approach by referring to selected verses dealing with this subject. Indeed, cultural diversity might cause various conflicts among people, who live in a multi-cultural society, if it is not managed appropriately. Therefore, the goal of this paper is to analyze the text of selected Qur’anic verses, in order to extract the recommended approach to be used as the key indicator, which shapes Muslim Identity, for managing culture differences manifested in thoughts, customs and attitudes applied to day-to-day social engagements. This study is divided into two parts. The first part focusses on the discussion about Muslim identity, cultural diversity, CIS countries, and Qur’anic approach, which are the key terms of this paper. The second part discusses the ways on how to manage cultural diversity in the light of the Qur’anic expression Inna Akramakum Inda Allah Atqakum (Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you) (al-Hujurāt: 13), on which Muslims’ identity is shaped. The outcome of this work is expected to provide new insights for overcoming cultural barriers and promoting peaceful coexistence in multicultural societies.
