Description
Summary:Rural areas are less exposed to environmentally hazardous chemicals and are therefore more suited to groundwater extraction for human consumption. Traditionally, windmills or hand operated lever pumps are used to extract water from a well. The problem with these techniques is that they do not provide a means of preventing storage tank overflows, which results in a waste of water. This project suggests a viable strategy of eliminating such waste. The system uses a motor-driven pump to suck up water from a deep well to the overhead reservoir tank. An electric motor runs on command by a Programmable Logic Controller (PLC). The automation - afforded by program in a PLC - ensures that water from the tank does not overflow
