Description
Summary:As the oil and gas resources had been depleted, most of the oil and gas companies had focused in deep water exploration. To design a platform in deepwater, wave loading and environment loading such as wind and current need to be considered. This paper discuss about the responses of Tension Leg Platform (TLP) due to wave and current. The idea of this project is to find the motion and forces to the TLP with regards or influence of the current at certain locations. The case study is made with Ram Powell TLP in difference current velocities. The theories that were used in finding the motions and forces were `Linear Airy Wave Theory', `Pierson-Moskowitz Spectrum' and `Motion Response Spectrum'. This project also conducts a literature survey about the type of TLP which are conventional TLP, SeaStar TLP and Moses TLP, The latest information of existing TLP, Numerical Analysis and Experimental Analysis of dynamic motion (surge, heave and pitch). The project will come up with tabulated result and some graphs about the responses of current on the TLP. From the results, there were clearly stated the percentage increment of responses due to various wave and current. Some discussion recommendations were included for continuation study and research on this topic
