Description
Summary:Heavy metal pollution has become a serious threat to human life and the ecological system. Current method for detection is time consuming, costly and involves toxic organic solvents. Sensitive methods for the determination to trace amount of heavy metals and toxic have received much attention. Many techniques have been developed such as high-resolution differential surface plasmon resonance sensor, ionic liquid sensor and electrochemical microsensors. In this study, modified carbon paste electrode (CPE) with montmorillonite (MMT), one of a clay type that act as a modifier was used for in-situ analysis to detect the presence of lead(II) for a more non-toxic, environmental friendly, easy to obtain and low cost using Square Wave Anodic Stripping (SW-AS) voltammetric technique. This method was applied to detect low concentration of heavy metal that presence water such as tap water, bottled natural water, lake or seawater since even small amount of heavy metal will have long term effect towards human health.
