Summary:During a disaster scene (earthquake, fire, twister etc) where it involves many victims, it is important to always keep track of the vital signs status of the victim. Vital signs mentioned were referring to body temperature, pulse rate, blood pressure, blood oxygenation level (Sp02) and respiratory rate. Secondary injuries such as hypoxemia, hypotension, and cardiac tamponade become life-threatening if not treated immediately [6]. The objective of this project is to design a vital sign device that is able to transmit the data to a personal computer. This system could be applied in the emergency room to monitor patients. In FYP I, the scope will mainly be focusing and researching on the background of this project and the prototype design planning such as tools and components needed. The researching part will be done by interviewing medical officer, reading research paper and journal to find out what are the available ways to do the project and improve on that. Studies on the technologies available in Malaysia will also be done.
