Description
Summary:Offshore engineers have been developing hindcast system to estimate offshore meteorology and oceanography (metocean) conditions. The hindcast data is used to estimate the design parameters by offshore engineers in the absence of measured metoccean data. This estimate leads to lack of optimized design since the hindcast data is predicted over 6 km x 6 km grid over a long period of time. In this research presented herein, the availability of measured metocean data is used to validate and calibrate hindcast data by determining the statistical properties and time series of wind and wave and incorporating correction factors to the three (3) regions under study.
