Biopolymer coating material is favourable as the coated material because it may degrade and harmless to the environment. The polymer matrix of tapioca starch-urea-borate (SUB) has potential as a controlled release formulation. Three types of fillers which are lignin (SUB-Li), nanoclay -b^ntojm^^SrMMTLand^nanoclay halloysite (S-HNT) were added to improve the wettability and mechanical properties of the coating material by reinforced into SUB matrix. In urea coating process, the wetting stage plays an important phase where coating material spreads on urea surface to form a thin film layer which determines the coating uniformity of coated urea.
