Description
Summary:Offshore bridge structure that connects two platforms is installed at the offshore site by a process called lifting. Lifting offshore structures requires a comprehensive study of engineering constraints such as arrangement of rigging, geometric configuration of the structure and other construction constraints. Any improper way of lifting an offshore bridge structure will cause structural failure to occur due to the extra forces acting on the structure. These extra forces can cause a heavier lift since the tension acting on the structure is high. However, heavier lift requires a larger crane with a higher capacity to lift the structure in order for installation. This will eventually increase the installation cost as the cost of a large crane is tremendously high.
