Summary:The aim of this research was to assess the role of constructed wetland by cultivating Phragmites australis for peat soil restoration. Consequently, peatland’s function as a sink in the nutrient cycle may be reactivated. Degraded peat emits carbon dioxide which is harmful to the environment where rewetting can stop it from continuously happens. Also, degraded peat provides an imbalance nutritional medium for plant growth. The cultivated macrophyte functions to balance it. Characterization of peat soil, wetland plant and water quality analysis have been done. A von Post test has been done to examine the texture and decomposition of soil. Then, a small-scale surface flow constructed wetland with the cultivation of grown up Phragmites autralis was established and provided with stormwater.
