Description
Summary:Pretreatment processes such as wet oxidation and acidic pretreatment require high temperature and pressure and may also favor in microbial formation. Ionic liquids (ILs) pretreatment is an alternative to current method due to high dissolution capacity for different constituent of biomass. However, ILs with high viscosity limit the mass transfer between biomass. The objectives of this study are: to synthesize and characterize low viscosity and environmental friendly functionalized ILs, to evaluate and optimize the dissolution of bamboo using the prepared ILs against operating parameters such as temperature, time and biomass loading and to analyse the fractionation of bamboo (cellulose, hemicellulose, lignin) and kinetic thermal decomposition of bamboo at optimum condition.
