Peninsula Malaysia has substantial granite belt which can be used as a resource. Thus, granite hills found in Lumut and Seri Manjung is a potent resource in construction industry as coarse rock aggregate resource. The coverage of granite has an area of 20km2 and is tested using rock aggregate tests. Granite is studied and tested due to its wide usage in building roads, railway, buildings, pathway, reservoir dams and others. A geological map of 1:25,000 is mapped outlining the lithofacies in this area and two cross sections are produced. The map also gives a picture of the lithology area coverage. Coarse grained granite is shown to cover almost 95% of the area with minor fine grained granite is found in minor parts of Teluk Batik. Gula Formation is found to be swampy peat clay mixture sediments overlaid by recent Beruas Formation of clay, silt and sand sediments. Tidal flats are commonly found near Marina Island, a man-made island adjacent to Lumut town. Structural analysis on the fractures of granite shown to have E-W maximum principal stress direction in Lumut area while the Teluk Batik shows a NW-SE maximum principal stress direction. Two samples of 50kg granite each is collected to assess its quality, one from DKLS Quarry Sdn. Bhd. and another from a designated proposed location for new quarry potential site. The results obtained from the rock aggregate physical test on granite are compared with the JKR standards for rock aggregates used in Malaysia’s construction industry standard. It shows that both DKLS site has an acceptable limit within the range. The proposed site is also interpreted to have acceptable limits even some tests shows anomalies results. Based on the interpretation, it draws a good conclusion on the quality of granite from the proposal site for coarse rock aggregates resource.
