Summary: | In offshore industry, pump is used as a device to transfer crude oil which becomes the finished product of the industry. To ensure a continuous production of the crude oil, a good performance of pump is really needed for every period of operation. Preventive maintenance is such a usual way in any industry to maintain the efficiency performance of the pump. However, there is one critical issue that becomes a major problem in industry which is the life prediction of mechanical seal. Mechanical seal is basically function to prevent fluid leakage from the pump. Since the lifetime of mechanical seal is unpredictable, it causes an enormous problem for engineers to prepare number of spare parts during the future failure of mechanical seal. As a solution, life data analysis will be introduced in this study to predict the lifetime of mechanical seal and directly solve the problem of engineer to prepare the number of spare parts of mechanical seal. By using Reliasoft Weibull++ software, many results can be easily obtained according to the data distribution which includes the mean life, BX% life, reliable life, probability of failure, warranty time and so on. The simple utilization of this software can totally solve many problems in offshore industry which includes the cost saving, production loss and environmental problem which is due to hydrocarbon leakage. |
