Description
Summary:Absorption chillers generate chilled water using steam supplied by heat recovery steam generators at cogeneration plants. The chillers are mainly of double effect type. The COP of double effect varies from 0.7 to 1.2 depending on operation and maintenance practices of the chillers. This study is on irreversible and coefficient of performance of double effect lithium bromide and water steam absorption chiller at a district cooling plant. The irreversible and coefficient of performance model were used for evaluating coefficient of performance (COP) of the chillers during operation period. Besides spreadsheet Engineering Equation solver (EES) was used for analysis. Analysis results indicate model increasing trends. The actual COP is within the range of normal double effect COP. The absorption chillers are still in good working condition and can continued to be operated.
