Description
Summary:Pipelines exists mainly accommodate the necessity to transport liquids and gasses or any stable chemical substance. In the field of oil and gas industry, installations of pipelines beneath the surface of the sea are an intact and reliable way to ship energy from the offshore field to the onshore terminal and farther on to end customer. Aging process of pipeline is imminent along with its degradation concerns, this is notable in a long service pipeline infrastructure. In order to deal with, replacement of the aged pipeline with new ones are possible, but it has quite a number of disadvantages to do so. First, the process is a very tedious as it requires the extraction of the pipeline that has been on the seabed for more than two decades. Secondly, this process is tremendously costly and also it will cut off production for long time until the replacements are done. This particular problem has been ironed out and dealt with a new solution which is not only cost effective but also uses an effective method of installation by using rehabilitation method. This method uses the In-Field Liner (IFL) hose which uses flexible composite materials without comprising the mechanical properties of a conventional steel pipe. This research paper describes of the most convenient and fitting materials selected, modeled through the SolidWorks software, run through analysis in Simulia Abaqus software.
