Summary:The cost of electricity which skyrocketed over the years in addition to significant climate awareness campaigns spark an interest to analyse the individual energy consumption in households and corporate buildings. By tracking the electricity usage of each individual appliance separately, consumers gain a more precise and accurate of energy consumption conclusions for appliances that draw high current and when the electricity is at peak consumption. By breaking down electricity consumption, cost spent on bills can be reduced. Energy monitor is a communication medium which strives to provide interaction between users and energy. An online energy monitoring system is developed for users to track and monitor the energy data of each individual load through mobile friendly web access application either on smartphones or computers. Household and buildings energy usage are usually inconspicuous and „invisible‟ to the people. Consumers usually blindly pay their monthly electricity bills with vague idea about when and where the electricity is utilized or which purposes that cost high electricity consumption. Statistics showed that cost spent on electricity bills have been increasing at a rate of almost 3% per year. From this, it is crucial for users to have a better understanding on the usage of energy whether within household, or in a bigger scale such as corporate buildings.
