Description
Summary:Pipeline corrosion management is one of the crucial aspect in monitoring pipeline health condition. To ensure the smooth process and uninterrupted flow in steel pipeline, pipeline corrosion management inspection has to be periodically organized. However, the corrosion analysis is monopolized by human as decision makers and therefore producing inconsistent result due to different knowledge and background. This study is focusing on early detection of corrosion on the pipeline surface in order to avoid untoward incidents by using MATLAB software. By using software, we can produce consistent result compare to human and reduce the cost for early corrosion detection part. In this study, non-destructive technique chosen is visual inspection as corrosion inspection method for metallic pipeline surfaces inspection. The dataset from visual inspection will undergo image pre-processing which include conversion into greyscale, filtering using median filter as well as image enhancement using sharpen function.
