It has been used as traditional remedies to cure wounds, constipation and diarrhoea. Previous researches, especially in India has proved the existence medicinal compounds in some parts of the grass. Therefore, methanolic and ethanolic extraction of the whole body of C. Dactylon (L.) Pers. is conducted to produce similar result, hence proving the same occurrence in UTP. In addition to that, ionic liquid extraction from the same parts of the sample by using 1-ethyl-3-methylimidazolium lactate (EMIL) and methanol mixture as the solvent, is performed to study its effectiveness for the process. The extracts are analysed qualitatively Gas Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS). It is found that a higher extraction yield and extracted component variety is resulted from the addition of EMIL to methanol as solvents, and as far as this research is concerned, higher concentration of EMIL further increases the yield as well.
