Summary:The dependability of charging devices has increase along with the increase usage of mobile devices especially in this modernized era. Traditional way of charging involves the usage of cable as power transmission and a wall socketed power source. As ordinary as it seems to be, traditional charging process is inefficient especially when you are in the go or when there are no power outlets around. Therefore, author is looking into wireless charging, which promised a solution for the problems such as unavailability of power sources, and the hassle caused by transmission cables. This report will cover the basis and design of wireless charging, employing Radio Frequency (RF) energy harvesting method with solar energy as the input. This project is divided into two parts; the transmitter end and the receiver end. The focus will be on the receiver end part whereby a prototype of voltage doubler circuit will be fabricated. The idea for the transmitter end which is on its component specification and selection will be discussed and presented in this report. . From this project, it is expected that by utilising the radio frequency in the ambient, useful power in terms of voltage and current could be harnessed to sufficiently charge a mobile application at the receiver end.
