ELECTRONIC TURBIDITY MEASUREMENT SYSTEM BY USING LIGHT DEPENDENT RESISTOR

Turbidity is one of the causes of water pollution .It is caused by the impurities that interpose with the clearness of water. The unwanted particles suspended in water adversely affect human health. Thus turbidity meter is important as it can measure the turbidity level and identify the quality of w...

Electronics Nuclear engineering Turbidity is one of the causes of water pollution .It is caused by the impurities that interpose with the clearness of water. The unwanted particles suspended in water adversely affect human health. Thus turbidity meter is important as it can measure the turbidity level and identify the quality of water. In this study, a portable electronic turbidity measurement system has been develop for water monitoring purposed. This paper presents a turbidity measurement system by using light dependent resistor. A simple light transmission is choose as the main concept for this system .A LED as the light source and it will point out the light towards the water sample and the light dependent resistor as the light receiver sensor will capture the light scattered. The amount of light receive is convert into voltage output by using some circuit. The system provided a digital readout by using LCD. The system is focusing on reading low turbidity range which is 0 NTU to 100 NTU. With the guidance from WHO (World Health Organization) the safe range for water use is 0 NTU to 5 NTU. Thus, 100 NTU is consider high turbidity for normal usage. The instrument can be categorized as accurate with the result from the testing of final product showing less percentage error.
