Summary: | It is inevitable to study the Arabic language sciences and what is related to it such as the Qur’anic
recitation modes, particularly the irregular modes of recitation with respect to morphology,
rhetoric, semantics and phonetics because this helps to find their argument, and deduce rules and
evidences for the statements of the grammarians and their arguments. One of the most prominent
interpreters who tracked that in the irregular recitations is Al-Mawardi in his book, Kitab Al-Nukat
wa Al-U’yoon known as Tafsir Al-Mawardi which is one of the significant Islamic heritage books.
It deserves to be researched and cared for because it includes a number of Qur’anic modes of
recitations which are either indisputably successive or irregular. The irregular modes in particular
received a considerable concern from Imam Al-Mawardi who presented them, and supported them
with quotations from the Holy Qur’an, Arab’s language, dialects and poetry. In addition, he set up
rules based on the Arab’s language dialects. However, he ignored many disputes that occurred
among the grammarians on some grammatical rules related to some anomalous recitations, some
of which he did not ascribe to their scholars and did not highlight them with clues that distinguish
them from the indisputably successive chains of narration (mutawatir). He did not cite much from
the irregular modes of recitations which a reference for the grammarians’ quotations. This made
the Kitab Al-Nukat wa Al-U’yoon an abridged exegesis which requires more research and study.
This is the problem that inspired the researcher to collect the positions of the irregular modes of
recitations and track their impact on the Arabic language sciences. He sought to study the
arguability of the irregular modes of recitations and their impact on Arabic and to enrich the Arabic
language rules. The objectives are to clarify the impact of the irregular modes of recitations, to
benefit from them in setting up the rules of the grammatical and morphological issues, to remove
the misconceptions about them and to establish the evidences for them. The research concluded
with a group of results. The most significant of these results is that Imam Al-Mawirdi has
conducted many ways to present the irregular modes of recitations and analyse them to show their
impact on the meanings and Arabic language and its various sciences. Therefore, the researcher
recommends that everyone who will tackle the issues of tafsir books work on knowing the
methodologies of interpreters, their modes and their ways of presenting and clarifying the irregular
modes of recitation and their impact on the sciences of Arabic language to benefit the best they
can. |
