Summary:Insurgency and conflicts impacted negatively towards people’s life in general and in particular the children who are vulnerable group. Children are exposed to human rights abuses and violations due to the insurgency, security threat that preclude them access to basic needs such as education, food, social amenities as well as health facilities. Any attack to education implies violation of the international humanitarian law which includes the right to education and the right to life and liberty. The foremost objective of this paper is to examine the effect of the insurgency on the child right and access to education particularly the Boko Haram conflict in the North Eastern part of Nigeria. The present study relied upon document analysis; various sources such as articles, magazines, books, dissertations, seminar papers, academic journals and newspapers. The paper’s recommendation is aim at helping the concerned authority in handling the future situation
