要約:Stress is a public health problem. In this globalization’s millennium, the sector of education is extremely challenging and educators are vulnerable to a variety of work stress factors. This study was conducted to examine the factors influencing occupational stress among teachers teaching various subjects at Public Secondary Schools (SMK) in Hulu Perak Malaysia. A total of 270 out of 832 respondents from Hulu Perak involving the districts of Lenggong, Gerik and Pengkalan Hulu were selected according to Krejcie Morgan's (1970). A self-administered questionnaire has been used as the research instrument and the data obtained were analyzed using Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 23 software. The findings revealed that the stress level among the respondents is moderate. Moreover, the multiple regression analysis results have found workload as the dominant factors influencing work-stress amongst the teachers (β=0.449, P<0.05), followed by student misbehavior factor (β =0.167, P<0.05). While, the influence of relationship with colleagues on work-stress is found to be insignificant. Thus, although the work pressure among the teachers is at a moderate level, this indicates that the teachers at the National Secondary Schools (SMK) in Hulu Perak remain under the same pressure as the factors studied. Several suggestions were proposed to improve work-stress issues amongst teachers.
