The design of optical waveguide sensor based on surface plasmon resonance

An optical waveguide sensor (OWS) based on surface plasmon resonance is proposed in this work. The finite element COMSOL Multiphysics software is used to simulate and analyze the parameters of OWS with silver grating and graphene coated silver grating. The simulated results indicate that the silver...

الملخص:An optical waveguide sensor (OWS) based on surface plasmon resonance is proposed in this work. The finite element COMSOL Multiphysics software is used to simulate and analyze the parameters of OWS with silver grating and graphene coated silver grating. The simulated results indicate that the silver grating OWS is used to detect the refractive index of the analyte in the range of 1.30 to 1.37, and the minimum and the maximum sensitivity is 392.964 nm/RIU and 1434.67 nm/RIU, respectively. The graphene silver grating OWS is appropriated to detect the refractive index of the analyte in the range of 1.31 to 1.41, and the minimum and maximum sensitivities are 258.07 nm/RIU and 3203.62 nm/RIU, respectively. The OWS is easy to be fabricated and has a large detection range for the refractive index of an analyte. It is expected to be applied in agricultural testing technologies. © 2021 IEEE.
