Using algorithmic taxonomy to evaluate lecture workload: A case study of services application prototype in the UPM KM portal by Abdul Hamid, Jamaliah, Mohayidin, Mohd Ghazali, Selamat, Mohd Hassan, Ibrahim, Hamidah, Abdullah, Rusli, Hashim, Ruhil Hayati

    Published 2006
“…Lecturer workload at universities includes three major categories: teaching, research and services.Teaching workload is influence by various factors such as level taught courses, number of student, credit and contact hour and off campus or on campus course design. The UPM has a KM Portal that contains sets of metadata on lecturer profile and knowledge assets. The Lecturer profile contains information lecturer teaching, research, publication and many more.We constructed an algorithmic taxonomy based at the lecturer profile data to measure lecturer teaching workload. This method measures the lecturer teaching workload. The taxonomy is a dynamic hierarchy that extracts validated parameters from the dataset. Results of the study highlight the contributions of this algorithmic method in better evaluation of teaching workload for lecture.…”

Hybrid subjective evaluation of rule Exraction Algorithm using Weighted Subsethood-Based (WSBA) by Othman, Mahmod, Ku-Mahamud, Ku Ruhana, Hawani, Shezrin, Hamzah, Amir, Khalid, Shaiful Annuar, Abdullah, Fader

    Published 2013
“…Fuzzy rules are important elements that being highlighted in any fuzzy expert system. This research proposes the framework of subjective performance evaluation using fuzzy technique for ranking the performance of the financial performance of a company under a multi criteria environment. There are a lot of techniques used such as fuzzy similarity function, fuzzy synthetic decision and satisfaction function have been adopted. The framework is based on fuzzy multi-criteria decision-making that consists of fuzzy rules. The use of fuzzy rules, which were extracted directly from input data through Weighted Subsethood-based (WSBA) Rule Generation Algorithm.WSBA rule generation use the subsethood values to generate the weights which finally produced the fuzzy general rules. The rules generated through the data provided knowledge in developed fuzzy rule The fuzzy rules embedded in the framework of subjective evaluation method showed advantages in generalizing the evaluation of the performance achievement, where the evaluation process can be conducted consistently in producing good evaluation results with the use of the membership set score. The results from the numerical examples are comparable to other fuzzy evaluation methods, even with the use of small rule size.…”

Dissimilarity algorithm on conceptual graphs to mine text outliers by Kamaruddin, Siti Sakira, Hamdan, Abdul Razak, Abu Bakar, Azuraliza, Mat Nor, Fauzias

    Published 2009
“…The graphical text representation method such as Conceptual Graphs (CGs) attempts to capture the structure and semantics of documents. As such, they are the preferred text representation approach for a wide range of problems namely in natural language processing, information retrieval and text mining. In a number of these applications, it is necessary to measure the dissimilarity (or similarity) between knowledge represented in the CGs.In this paper, we would like to present a dissimilarity algorithm to detect outliers from a collection of text represented with Conceptual Graph Interchange Format (CGIF).In order to avoid the NP-complete problem of graph matching algorithm, we introduce the use of a standard CG in the dissimilarity computation. We evaluate our method in the context of analyzing real world financial statements for identifying outlying performance indicators. For evaluation purposes, we compare the proposed dissimilarity function with a dice-coefficient similarity function used in a related previous work.Experimental results indicate that our method outperforms the existing method and correlates better to human judgements. …”
