Benchmark simulator with dynamic environment for job scheduling in grid computing by Ku-Mahamud, Ku Ruhana

    Published 2014
“…Characteristics of jobs and resources to be used in evaluating the performance of the scheduling algorithm must reflect the dynamic nature of real grid environment.Static models of jobs and resources cannot be used to generate jobs and resources in simulating the grid environment because of the dynamic nature of the grid. This paper presents a new graph representation of jobs and resources which is practical for hybrid metaheuristic model implementation such as ant colony optimization and genetic algorithm.A dynamic model that can generate jobs and resources similar to the jobs and resources in the real grid environment is also proposed.Jobs and resources may join in or drop out from the grid.Stochastic analysis is performed on the characteristics of jobs and resources.A simulator based on the dynamic expected time to compute, has been developed and can be used as a benchmark. The simulator can generate jobs and resources with the characteristics of jobs and resources in the real grid environment. This will facilitates the evaluation of dynamic job scheduling algorithm.…”

Automated time series forecasting by Ismail, Suzilah, Zakaria, Rohaiza, Tuan Muda, Tuan Zalizam

    Published 2011
“…While quantitative technique is based on statistical concepts and requires large amount of data in order to formulate the mathematical models. This technique can be classified into projective and causal technique. The projective technique (or univariate modelling) just involve one variable while the causal technique (or econometric modelling) suitable for multi-variables.Since forecasting involves uncertainty, several methods need to be executed on one set of time series data in order to produce accurate forecast.Hence, usually in practice forecaster need to use several softwares to obtain the forecast values. If this practice can be transformed into algorithm (well-defined rules for solving a problem) and then the algorithm can be transformed into a computer program, less time will be needed to compute the forecast values where in business world time is money. In this study, we focused on algorithm development for univariate forecasting techniques only and will expand towards econometric modelling in the future. Two set of simulated data (yearly and non-yearly) and several univariate forecasting techniques (i.e. …”

Cloud Co-Residency Denial of Service Threat Detection Inspired by Artificial Immune System by Ahmad, A, Zainuddin, WS, Kama, MN, Idris, NB, Saudi, MM

    Published 2024
“…A review of the literature shows that there is still a lack of works on cloud IDS that focused on implementing real-time hybrid detections using Dendritic Cell algorithm (DCA) as a practical approach. In addition, there is also lack of specific threat detection built to detect intrusions targeting cloud computing environment where current implementations still using traditional open source or enterprise IDS to detect threats targeting cloud computing environment. …”
