Description
Summary:The study aims to identify the application of the criteria of a quality management system as defined by an international standard ISO 9001:2015. It analyzes the gap between the actual reality and the requirements of the specification that would raise the level of performance, preparing the selected factory to obtain a certificate of conformity with the specifications of the global standard ISO 9001:2015. This is achieved through identifying the strengths and weaknesses of the system, diagnosing the gap and finding ways to address such a gap. This study selected one of the prefabricated building factories which belongs to the Iraqi Ministry of Construction and Housing as the sample of the study. The data were collected using three methods, namely, field visits, records and documents and checklists. The collected data were, then, analyzed using percentages and weighted arithmetic means. The findings revealed that the application of the quality management system in the prefabricated building factory was estimated to be at 67.14%, which is close to being partially implemented and partially documented. This indicates there is a gap of about 32.86%; such a gap can be addressed through continuous improvement, management review of the system, problem-solving, and the documentation of some requirements. ? 2023 Informa UK Limited, trading as Taylor & Francis Group.
