| description | This study aims to measure Malaysia’s progress towards realizing SDGs 2030 agenda by calculating the distance to the targets. We use a Z-score, measured by the difference of the current value of the indicator, and compare the country’s performance relative to Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) members in achieving the target goals in five complementarity areas. We also discuss how the current pandemic of COVID-19 has affected the country’s progress on SDGs. Based on the findings, Malaysia has made significant achievements towards certain SDGs that highlight poverty elimination, healthcare improvement, infrastructure upgrade, and resilience enhancement. However, the country needs to be more progressive in fulfilling other areas of SDGs. |
