Nonlinear optical response of zinc oxide nanorods with gold and silver alloy embedment

In this work, we investigated the nonlinear optical (NLO) response using ZnO nanorods with integration of gold and silver alloys. The thin films of ZnO-nanorods-Au-Ag were chemically synthesized on glass substrate and characterized using FE-SEM, UV-Vis, and XRD, for their morphology, linear absorpti...

NLO were analysed using Z-scan technique at 720 nm fs laser for open and closed aperture; referring to nonlinear absorption and nonlinear refractive index, respectively. The highest nonlinear absorption was observed in ZnO-Au NPs with beta = 5.60 x 10(-6) cm/W, and highest value of nonlinear refractive index was observed in ZnO-Au3Ag1 NPs with gamma = 15.28 x 10(-12) cm(2)/W. The third-order nonlinear susceptibility was observed the highest in ZnO-Au NP with chi((3)) = 14.62 x 10(-10) esu, shows great enhancement compared to ZnO NRs. NLO of a material are one of the important part of research that would provide good understanding towards optical devices and applications.
